From agricultural economics to the cloud.
I was terrified I'd made a huge mistake. Six months into cloud computing, I felt like the dumbest person in every room. Then something shifted.
I started with an Agricultural Economics degree from the University of Ibadan, then moved to the UK for a master's at Bournemouth (Distinction, 2018), where I discovered data. NHS England hired me as an entry-level Data Analyst. By 2021 I'd hit a ceiling, so I asked a deputy director for a cloud secondment I wasn't qualified for. He said yes.
I earned four Azure certifications in a year. AWS hired me in 2022 with zero AWS certs - just Azure badges and stubborn determination. Within 18 months I was promoted, and in 2025 I won the AWSome Legend Award: top 120 of 900,000+ Amazon employees globally.
Today I design cloud architecture for migration, legacy modernisation, and cost optimisation at scale, and I help leaders shape practical AI strategy. The rest of my time goes to the people coming up behind me - through mentorship, guest lectures, and my newsletter.
